May Monthly Recap

May, you really know how to liven up the party and zoom by in a flash. The month was filled with weekend trips (Omaha and Nashville), Lexi’s 2nd Birthday Party, spending time outside, and neighborhood fire pits. There were a few cold and rainy days, but it felt a lot like summer.

Summer Photo Bucket List

Photographer Heather Marshall created the Summer Bucket Photo List inspiring other photographers, parents, families to capture this summer’s memories. I love this idea because it is not too stressful like taking a photo everyday. It feels like inspiration…

Read. Watch. Listen. Learn.

Read

I am using Goodreads to track my reading, rate books and write some reviews. Last month (April) was a slow month for reading… until May came along and just flew by! There’s quite a few books half read so I plan to finish those this month.

Books Completed in May: 3 books

  • Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative – Austin Kleon
  • Eat, Pray, Love – Elizabeth Gilbert
  • Think Again: The Power of Knowing What you Don’t Know – Adam M. Grant

YTD Total: 25 of 41 books

Watch

  • Photography YouTube – Chris Hau, Lizzie Peirce, Peter McKinnon
    • I have been broadening my photography skills and creativity and YouTube has a lot of photographers that share their knowledge.

Listen

I listen to a lot of podcasts, audiobooks, and music. Here are the highlights from the past month.

  • A lot of Today’s Hits and The Pulse on SiriusXM
  • Not many podcasts – Any recommendations?

Learn

I love learning new things and am making space for more future learnings.

  • How HUGE the Omaha Zoo is. The first weekend in May, we went to Omaha to visit the zoo and spend time with Morgan & Nic. Lexi loved the fish aquariums the most. There is so much to see at the zoo.
  • How to drive a van around Nashville. I went on a girls trip with 2 other awesome ladies to Nashville for a long weekend. The van was actually a pretty sweet ride. TSA PreCheck is totally worth it.
  • How to devein shrimp. Last weekend, we purchased 2 lbs of fresh shrimp from locally raised source, Midland Co. It was delicious! I had never prepared fresh shrimp so I watched a few YouTube videos and became a semi-pro at using the deveiner tool.
  • How many bags of dirt it takes to fill a cubic yard raised garden bed. Answer: 14 – 2 cu ft bags and 3 bags of top soil. Adam built me a second raised bed, and now both garden boxes are planted! I cannot wait to see all the seedlings sprouting up.

What’s on your summer bucket list?
